Liquid gas will not explode if a spark is introduced in the liquid. It will however explode violently if a spark is introduced to vaporized gas.
Its all about the other ingredient necessary for combustion....air.0 -

Right you are. That's why you have to mix fuel and air before it can combust within the engine. It's all about the flash point.0 -
Dan,
This is strange, we must be kindred spirits 'cos I just got the twin of your Commodore except mine's a '48 Super 8, I will check and see if it has the gas option you mention. In the mean time, look at how similar the color, deterioration etc., is.

P.S. My first "real" car was a '68 Chevelle too! We have good taste.0 -

I bought my 49 from some folks in Palm Springs so mine had a
CA plate on it when I bought it (Sadly the ebay pictures showed the original South Dakota plates - that they couldn't find when they broght me the car)
Sometimes I miss my 68 Chevelle - but it was just a customized malibu nothing special like an SS which I would have held onto.
What are the plans for your 48?0 -

Hi, I think my car has that. Mine has a black button that sits flush with the lip of the underneath of the dash. It is int he right, almost as far over as the radio. I'll take some pics tomorrow when there's better light.

I would like to restore it- properly. I understand that may cost about $20,000 but it hardly has any rust and is straight, everything's there. Chroming's going to be a bit 'cos these bumpers are big! I've never restored a car before, have worked on them plenty. From your restoration pics I wasn't able to determine exactly where to start. I don't want to mess anything up but am itching to start the dismantling process. Any suggestions?I bought my 49 from some folks in Palm Springs so mine had a
