Ouch I could cry, especially since I've been there before with my own Hudson and a drunck driver. Thank god and the enginers at Hudson for building such a strong car. Named Americas' safest car in 1951....still is

He said it was about dusk.He was at the Frog Follies[big street rod show] in Evansville,In.,said he tangled with a 33 Plymouth S/R.
  • I just talked to a good friend of Hershels, He is going to fix the Hudson. He is going to straighten the frame first before any body work is done. He said it did not bend the roof.

OMG, this has got to be my biggest fear when driving an old car. How safe sre you going to be in an accident? scary!

I did this Labor Day, 1955

Yas, it was my car. No booze or drugs, just too much activity in one day, and too comfortable a car to ride home in. Went to sleep briefly and hit a girder bridge. Bumped my arm on the steering wheel and nicked my knee on the overdrive lockout.

I'd only had the car for 3 months but was hooked on Hudsons by then.
  • I think the picture posted by Uncle Josh answers the question about safety. Uncle Josh, did you do that to your car or someone elses? Must have been one heck of a wild Labor Day party.

 Well,I spoke to the gentlemen that was driving this car last weekend at the Rader meet..He was hurt by did survive ok.He is looking for another 2 door brougham to replace it with.Someone had told me where there was one for sale but I didn't take down the notes??,anybody know where one is?.:)
  • Hey Barry, you ever know Jim Q. from my town? He got the goose treatment a few yrs back, Ole Jim pulled er down in RESERVE and returned the favor. That'll teach em !!
  • No I don't remember him. Maybe you need to refresh me. Are you going to the Halloween race? It's a very interesting race 100 cars on a 1/2 mile for 200 laps. you can only guess what will happen. You can just walk to the track!

    Barry
  • I'll tell you about OLE JIM next time I see you , quite a character. No race for me, I quit driveing sprint cars about 1972 after I saw some good friends die in them things, was gettin too bold for my own good and had a young son to raise.
