Modern air filter in a 1939 Hudson

I recently saw an air filter on a '112' modified to take modern air filters. No more oil bath, and no more problems with large air gaps thru the rotted Copper mesh. You couldnt tell it had been modified. The 2 crimped seams around the cleaner were undone and the wind swirl vanes removed. A 750g Milo tin was used. Solder on the Milo lid. Cut the top 50mm approx off the top of the Milo tin and fit into the air cleaner. How much of the Milo tin you cut off depends on the type and height of the air filters used. The ones I saw were a universal motor bike filter that fitted Suzuki's - 2 reqd. They are very cheap filters. A very simple bracket is reqd to fit the original lid and wing nut. I have 3 photos if someone can assist me. Its amazing how creative the Hudsonites are. Hope this is of interest to you. HETsweetman@virginbroadband.com.au Drop the HET.

Sorry - no part numbers available. I was told they are a universal bike filter that fit several different makes. When you strip the cleaner down and loosely fit the Milo tin or some other tin, you adjust the tin up or down for the correct height depending on the filter height you chose. You can use damp course foam or petrol resistant rubber as a seal under the top cap. Regards, BarryThanks for the info! Could you give us a part # or the year/model of the Suzuki filter?0 -
