Gas tank sealant removal
Had a guy clean out my gas tank in my Kaiser a few years back and did not realize until today that he also put a sealant in it. Apparently the sealant is coming loose and blocking the feeder tube leading from the tank, which has led to some rather embarassing moments. Anyone out there had any experience removing that stuff or should I let somebody else do it?

I don't know what sealant was used, but "KREEM" (a motorcycle sealer) says that their sealant can be removed by soaking with ACETONE. Put in a healthy amount, shake it for a couple of days. You might start there. FWIW.0

Not sure this will help but a little insight from discussing a similar matter with a trained professional.
When I was having my tank done recently, I talked to the guy about a friend's motorcycle tank. The tank had been epoxy sealed a couple years ago with a do it yourself kit. The guy asked what color it was(the epoxy), I forget which color was the problem, but basically for what he had, it had to be sandblasted to remove before recoating, on the otherhand, he could chemically strip out the products the commercial shops use. The "home" kits were the type that you were pretty well S.O.L.0 -
Take a look at POR-15's site on the web. I just did my tank with it and looks great inside. They claim that their Marine Clean can remove old tank sealers. After what it took off inside, I am a believer. It looked like it had been sandblasted and it was all chemicals.
This is the complete kit. I think you can buy the Marine Clean seperately.

I did my 51 Pacemaker tank with POR 15 about fifteen years ago. so far no problem and I have used additives in the gas a few times. Thoughts have crossed my mind about the sealant coming loose and then what?? so far keeping my fingers crossed.

I have got to learn patience. Right after I took the tank to shop, I read your responses. Guess who has a POR-15 repair kit that has been sitting in the garage for 2 years. I've been waiting to use it on an old tractor I inherited, but would have gladly used on the tank in question. You guys need to respond to me quicker. What... no responses yet?
