Nick's 48 cv update

I added some new pictures to album for Nick's 1948 C8 convertible. It is painted with acrylic lacquer Queenstown gray and glowing gray. Ken & I are starting rubbing out paint today.     Looks good - the MSN site is turtle slow today though I couldn't get through all the pictures.

    For those restoring their cars...acrylic lacquer is the way to go IMHO

    It more easily replicates the look of the original paint (probably nitrocellouse lacquer) and when wet sanded and buffed is the flattest finish you can ever have.

    The horror stories you hear about lacquer not holding up are false - it all has to do with prep and the surface and material underneath the top coat.

    Colors look great. Similar colors to my brougham. I always get a lot of positive comments about the colors at car shows. Its good to see a 48-49 convertible done in a color other than red.

    Dave, is this the convertible that was on EBay alongside another early car, possibly a Buick? Been stored for twenty-some years? Certainly looked like an excellent project. Thanx.

    That is the car. It still had 1956 D.C. license plates, (that makes it stored for 50 years) about 40,000 miles on odometer. 48_cv_on_trailer_small.JPG

    Any timetable as to when the 'rubber meets the road'? Am very interested in seeing the finished project!
    No rush, but for National would be nice. Ken and I are working on it 1 or 2 six hour days a week. :)

    I Stopped In Daves While Out Buying A Trailer And Looked At Nick's Cv What A Nice Car It's Going To Be, The Dash Is Off The Charts As The Rest Of The Car Is Too It Was Cranking While I Was There A Bit Of A Water Leak But Ken Was On The Spot Putting Permatex On The Water Jacket Bolts Look No Leaks Now !!

    Geez Dave, I got to say, my dad didn't spend enough time with you on Sunday. Figured buying the headers, would have maybe been a segway into having the hudson process rub off on him! I was gonna tell him he could do the same with my 50, as you guys are doing with Nick's 48.... Oh well, It looks great! great color choice, dash is beautiful.



    I think hudsondad is gonna have some welding to do on my hood, this spring, anyway, so I'll let him off the hook. He told me I got to block sand until my arms hurt, then some more. Hopefully, mine turns out close to as nice as Nick's looks.



    We came close to a convertible, but it wasn't gonna happen, due to an issue we were never gonna be able to meet up on, so I guess one day, somewhere, there is still a convertible for us eastern PA guys...



    good job on the car Ken and Dave! (and everyone else involved...)

    It's encouraging (and entertaining) for me to watch people brings cars to this kind of shape in a relatively short period of time. Amazing job.

    Its looking like a very straight and nice car, and well detailed, would be nice to have here for our summer, reminds me of the old ad that they you to have on tv here, with mum and dad and the kids in the back rocking and rolling down the road to Mc donalds
