So, I was going thru some pictures from the Nationals in Indy, and I have to say, I finally figured out what this thing reminds me of...

I'm pretty sure you could fit at least (4) 32oz cuphoulders in this one.
  • What? No one blamed the stying of this on A.E. Barit?

It's Not Styled By A.e Barit It's A Frank Spring Styled Car Right Ed??
  • The Jet wasn't designed by A.E. Barit either, but people like to credit him for it.
  • They were designed by H.J. Simpson of Powell Motors.
  • I know this would get a lot of comments.

what is nice, is there is a decent amount of survival of special production hudson models. Here is a case in point. Ugly, homely, etc.... call it what you will. If nothing else, we all can respect the rarity of the car, and should be glad it is in the hands of someone that will bring it to the level of restoration where it should be.

I think I would still like this a bit more than an italia, considering this is at least a 54 hornet underneath....

Personally, I like the Jet convertible, better yet....
  • What is it though?

Be careful what you say, had Hudson not merged you might actually be driving one of these things to a meet today. Per Frank Spring, this was a first body mock up of the 57 Hudson. Obviouly there would have been difference, but you get the idea. Ill write more about the car soon.

Note how the rear window treatment is similar to your car photo.
  • Wow, start doing a little research back and I start finding out all kinds of things, then I ended up on a page showing a flying boat that Frank Spring helped design. Since my other hobby is radio control airplanes I have now found a plane I want to build that will have a relationship to my Hash.

By the way, I do see the resemblance though I think the Hash is better looking. It is funny to see how the Hudson name has so much respect until someone sees the AMC plate then they think my car is a Nash. The engine and drive train is all hudson, the Nash body was designed to work with that drivetrain, that and it still looks like a natural progression from the 54 to the 55 as far as body styling. Since I haven't driven a stepdown yet I don't know what I am missing in handling.

  • OMG, I was thinking the same thing, the Hash is better looking than the X-161.... I never thought I would say that...
