Just found this vintage Super Six pin badge. It was made in Sydney and by looking at the design of it, it may be very collectible. I do not own it as yet but what age and what is it worth? Angus and Coote jewellery Co still exsist today and is one of Australias oldest jewellery companies.

Since Angus & Coote are still in business, ask them.

  • Thanks for you advise, I just sent them an email with images. The company was formed in 1895.
  • My guess is teens thru twentys.

    Is it a dealership/dealer pin ?
  • I beleive the pin would have been ordered by the Hudson dealership in Sydney for it's customers or even for the sales reps etc. The Hudson Essex dealer in Sydney at the time was Dalgetys & Co so it makes sense to use a local jeweller to have them made. If the pins were made for the sales reps, very few would have ever been made. Finding another one would near impossible. The dealer no longer exist so my only hope is the jewellers.

I have sent an email to Angus & Coote Jewellers and still waiting for a reply.

I agree with Steve E that it may well have been made in the teens or twentys because of the pattern around the triangle which was not used after 1929.
  • G'day once again, i have received an email back from Angus & Coote regarding this Pin Badge.

    Hi Steven,

I’m really sorry, but I can’t find any reference to your badge. Our internal history only says that A&C undertook a lot of private contract work in the early to mid 1900’s, but doesn’t record anything specific. Sundry badges etc for the military during the war years, items for the Governor General, and that type of thing were made.

    Regards,

    Anne Lovett

After reading this email, I assume that the Sydney Dalgety's & Co Hudson Essex Dealer could have these made privately through Angus and Coote. But this is just as I said, I ASSUME!!

I guess we would never know.
