I was looking at rear springs on my Pacemaker trying to figure out how to remove them.I see a nut at the front end of the spring but how do you get the bolt out of the hanger. The rear of the springs look fairly simple just unscrew the nuts and pull the shackles.

    Royer,

Thanks I guess my brain just failed. I didn't think to search the forum.

I was tried and fed up with being drizzled on while on working car on my first free Saturday. Maybe next Saturday will go better.

  • I hope the old thread helps. It never hurts to ask for help on here. I didn't know the answer to your question, but I knew that it had come up in the past.

Question. My 54 has greaseable springs in the rear. I am looking into have the springs rebuilt and the books call for a straight non greaseable bushing. Which is correct? Were there options?

Hope you don't have your front and back mixed up.

The front bolt rides in 2 rubber shoulder bushings inside the front spring eye.

The rear shackles have grease fittings.

I'll have to look again, I have been dealing so much with the engine I haven't been back there and looked that close. I do know there are grease fitting but front or rear or both, I will have to look again. Thanks for the info.
