camshaft to oil pump gear mesh
Hello all I need some help with my splasher six. Durring an inspection i found that the teeth on the cam are worn where they make contact with the oil pump gear. Seems like to much spacing and not a smooth engagement possibly worn teeth?Dont know if this is common on these engines or if i should try to find a new camshaft. The rest of the engine looks fine. Thanks any input would be great chuck

Chuch, you will need to either get a replacement camshaft, or get the existing one built up and re-machined. This was a not uncommon problem with high mileage engines. I believe they changed the specification of the oil pump gear so it would not wear the cam worm, once the problem showed up.
