hi everyone, just reading about the daytona beach parade on feb 18/08 and they talk about a man named fabulous phil mc call and a mister herb thomas. mr. thomas i heard of from his winning in 1951, mr mc call i am not up to speed on this name. they have a pic of him driving a hornet in the parade. was he a racer in the fifties? thanks, dermot.

    I can remember Herb Thomas driving and winning in the 50's at Heidelburg, PA track. Are you sure it wasn't Tom McCall, the columnist for Popular Mechanics magazine? He wrote several articles on the Fabulous Hudson Hornet.

    Dave I believe you meant Tom McCahill who was the writer and reviewer. He been dead since about 1975.
