Almost Road Ready

Well after 18 months of work, the Pacemaker is almost road ready.

I just need to reinstall three splash guards and take it off the jack stands.

A quick VIN check by the local police and I can get the plate and drive.

A cooling system flush is also in the schedule once I get it of the garage.

Even though we are only 500 miles from the event site, we will not be making the trip.

I have to move a daughter to college and pick up a son from a summer enrich program all about the same time.

And to add to it, I am not ready to drive the car that far. I want to get around town and some short trips under my belt first.
  • Check out the Blair County Antique Auto Club. http://bcaac.org/services.html
Years ago when I lived there they were a friendly group. It seems like they have a good amount of events listed for this summer. Most of them would be a short distance from Johnstown.

Thank you so much for that link. In all my dealings with local part shops etc...NO ONE has mentioned that club.

    +1 rep point
  • Any pics? How did she look when you started?

Pictures will be forth coming. She really does not look any diffeent from my avatar picture. Most of the issues were mechanical. The wiring rally took a nose dive since it arrived here in PA.

The fuel pump, carb and water pump had to be rebuilt. Oil oil pan had to be dropped and de-sludged. Light bulbs replaced. Spark plugs, plug wires, cap and rotor replaced. Tranny and OD drained, flushed and refilled. New battery, tires, front and rear shocks.

I also had the rims/wheels sand blasted and powder coated. I replaced on cracked door window.

There is more to do. And mostly I made her road safe and road worthy.

Based on the HET scale, I would still say she is a good, solid, drivable 3. Once the brake lines and exhaust system are replaced, I think she could be a daily driver and be rated 2.80 car.
