What model Hudson are you restoring? The last glass lens Hudson produced for the long wheelbase models was in 1952. Actually the part was discontinued after the early models of the 52's were made having gone over to plastic. Thge 53 model year had all plastic lenses on the long wheelbase cars. Pacemaker and Wasp had glass lenses so is that what you need?0

I'm starting to gather parts for the '53 Convert restoration, and would like glass ones if they're available somewhere.
Thanks,
silverone.
Silverone - Glass lens were only used in early production 1952 long WB cars. They were then changed over to plastic lens. These lens are not interchangable - the base the lens attaches to are different.

You can use the glass if you get the base with socket and the stainless trim surround for the glass lens. I have an early 52 coupe that had them and I also found NOS pieces at Auburn. They also had the same set up for the taillites0

I didn't realize that the glass ones were only early '52, so I guess I better stay with the plastic ones for authenticity. My thought was that the glass ones would stay "clearer" over time, as some of the plastic ones in my cars are showing their age with fine cracks beginning to appear and some clouding starting to show probably due to UV damage I guess.
Do the glass mounts and lenses look the same as the plastic ones when installed, or can you tell the difference right away?0 -
For simplicity sake you might better stay with plastic. Yes both look the same but the plastic lens is being reproduced very nicely and the glass ones aren't. Save yourself a headache and get the plastic lens. Trying to find glass lenses and the bases is just about impossible. If you then break one, you are in for a lot of replacement searching. The glass bases and lenses are not interchangeable with the plastic ones. Both look equally as good if they are both in nice shape.0

I'll sell you a pair of NOS glass ones for 20.00. You need to have stainless escushion to hold them.

Thanks Dave ! I've sent you an email to give you my address to send to, and to determine where and how to send payment.
I appreciate your offer to sell these items to me !

I do have a set of NOS plastic ones that I can use if that's what is correct for the car ( and it looks like that's what I'll be doing ), but I've also got a '52 Hollywood that will need the glass ones if its ever restored.
Happily, Dave Sollon has generously offered to sell me a pair of glass ones, at a very reasonable price IMO, and I've taken him up on the offer, so it looks like the bases are covered with this issue.
Thanks to all for the great advice and input !!
