hudson essex sign info

Hi I have a sign from the outside of a dealership it say's hudson essex it is not neon it has light bulbs in it its been in the attic of a building we have owned since the 60s but I was wondering the year of it. It was made by mcsavaney sign co. springfield ohio I think it is before neon but not sure any help would be appreciated. thanks

Hi, Foamy: sounds like a real artifact! I'd love to see a photo of it. It would have to have been made between the years of 1919 and 1932, I'd guess, since those were Essex's 'years'.



How large is it? Are you planning to keep it or sell it? While I'm sure that a number of people would love to own it, a new Hudson museum is being built in northern Indiana, and this would be an ideal item for it. (Essex was made by the Hudson Motor Car Company.) If you happen to need a tax write-off, please consider donating it at some point, because I believe that anything given to the museum is tax-deductable. (Just thought I'd get my foot in the door!)

Wow! That's super cool! What a splendid artifact of the 1920's! Again, I hope maybe you'll keep the Hudson museum in the back of your mind, when you finally get around to writing your will, LOL!
