Any ideas or experiences on the general cost of media blasting a stepdown door and fender?

At a local stripping place I had two rear fenders and two doors done with plastic beads to remove the paint and Aluminum Oxide to remove the surface rust. I had them stripped at different times and the cost was $80.00 to $100.00 each. This included an application of a translucent coating to stop surface rust from starting until you were ready to work on the part.mrsbojigger wrote:Any ideas or experiences on the general cost of media blasting a stepdown door and fender?

I found that paint stripper and chemical rust dissolver worked just as well, and much cheaper, just took a longer time. Which is ok since my labor is cheap.
The company did a great job and if I had the bucks I would have had them do the whole car.
As a side note, an article in the last issue of Auto Restorer talked about using Molassess as a rust remover. Very cheap and very slow but worked.

There's a place in SE Pa. that will come to your site and soda blast entire car. I was told it will not damage glass if it's still in. Have a friend that had a Duster done inside and out and cost him around $600. Will not stretch metal and rust is cleaned up. Took the best part of a day including travel time.0
