Copper Radiator?
After scratching some of the black paint off the top of my radiator around the cap area, I noticed a copper colored finish underneath... I may be still learning about this "tank of a car", but were some or all of the stepdown era radiators finished with copper or do they contain a copper core? Anyone have a picture of theirs that they could share?
Thanks.
Thanks.

When I was a kid I would polish my dads. I am almost possitive they are brass.

Yes, brass tanks and copper cores. They last MORE than a life time. I have an original radiator in my 49 and it cools well with air conditioning! It's never had any work done to it other than a reverse flush..musta been 30 years ago.. Don't make them like that any more..
Live in the past... It's cheaper.:)0 -
OK - so I need to get the paint stripped off and reveal the brass.... why would anyone paint over brass except to keep from having to polish it???? Seems completely crazy to me....
