'54 Factory Shocks~~ What Color???

Does anyone know what type, and color the shocks were out of factory in late '54 ??

The shocks I removed from my 53 Hornet were the original Maeco (Monroe Automotive Equipment Company) brand and were all black in color. Darned things only lasted 53 years...go figure!
