1929 Essex oil pump question
To anyone who is acquainted with the 1929 Essex oil pump, I ask this question: Does it have ball check valves inside it? A friend, who is re-doing a 1929 Essex engine, discovered that it had a 1928 oil pump. After searching, he has just acquired a '29 oil pump for the car, but upon opening it he found it had no ball check valves. He'd like to know if it has check balls and if so, how many and what size? Does anyone have a sectional view of this pump, showing all the innards? Any help would be appreciated.

I have already emailed Jon with the details, but for the edification of the rest, the '29 pump does not have BALL CHECK valves. The valves in this pump are pot-shaped, with a flat bottom, and very light coil springs nestled inside. One each, top and bottom, identical.
