fan separation

The best way is to get penetrating oil { WD 40 or Liquid Wrench} onto that odd shaped nut that holds the fan cage onto the motor shaft. Let it soak overnight and then get a pair of alligator snout Vise Grips and turn the nut in the normal fashion. They will seperate but be careful not to bent the fins of the fan cage as it will impede its effect. Notice too, that the fan cage has weights attached so it is properly ballenced.0
