I hate guys like this! You look at the MSDS sheets (Materials Safety Data Sheets) and you would think you can drink the stuff and they tell you no useful information like what is in it. My guess is it is a buffered acid or acids. They also don't tell you how long it took to get the rust off....maybe days..

Well, if you click on the "Examples" legend on the website, some of the examples have a time given. Usually overnight. There is only one way to find out whether this product works is to try it. We need a brave soul to volunteer to try it.
  • While I am not an expert in any type of rust removal, I can attest to the electolysis method as one that will remove the oxidation to the base metal. There are a multitude of websites dealing with a favored method... the following is one that came up with a GOOGLE search. For the easy stuff... naval jelly ... for the hard stuff... try this method.

    Good Luck

  • There are many ways/products to remove rust. What needs cleaning is a prime factor in the process. The search is always for something easy to use that works. My search is for something not too harsh on the chrome itself, to salvage items for driver cars that could be made to look decent ,get the rust off but not eat up anything else, in addition to cleaning rusted cast and steel items They said this does not contain acids ,and is environment safe. DR. WHOZITZ CURE ALL? We don't know yet. I am asking them more questions and may try some if it sounds favorable.

A while back there was a thread on this. I would like to see it again. How do I find it? I looked in archives but there is hundreds to look through. Is there a search bar or another way to find a specific thread?
  • Don't know about the thread, would like to see it also for info. As for D-RUST-IT, the seller says on chrome it will not effect solid chrome in any way,if rust is under it the product will bring the rust out, that would of course leave unattached chrome, but not loosen the bond of chrome without rust under it. They also stated that it will not effect paint, rubber, etc. This could be a plus on some things. What do you think ?
  • Sounds like you may be a bit more up to speed on all the differant aspects of derusting and what is being derusted than some of us. So what is your opinion on useing D-RUST-IT versus other methods ? What to use it on and what not to ?
  • this might interest some of you.:)
