Its a thing of beauty !!
Today we started my freshly rebuilt 308 (now 314) engine, and I must say, -- I've never seen an engine run so smooth. I swear you could balance a nickel on edge on that thing, and it wouldn't fall over !! What a sweeeeeet sound !
Looks like having the entire engine balanced was a good move, because some of the pistons alone, were as much as 20 grams different in weight right out of the box.
We set it up on a custom fitted stand, so that it can be run for a few hours, thermocycled several times, tweaked, trimmed, and fine-tuned to the nines before she ever gets installed in the car.
When it goes in the engine bay, it'll be pretty much pre-broke in, and turn-key !! I'll fabricate a special lifting harness to lift right off the motor mounts, and bell housing, so that no head bolts will be disturbed in any way, and the engine can drop in complete and ready minus only the air cleaners. Transmission will also be mounted to the engine before its installed, so that no uneven forces are applied anywhere, trying to fight the thing into place working under the car.
A big day for this Hudnut.
Let the miles and smiles begin !!

Having lots of fun resizing these pictures.
Here's another try.0 -
Being a bit of a computer Klutz -- I struggle every time to get these pictures down to postable size !! Its far easier for me to post them full size on my website, -- so for those who wish to see them in more detail, try www.hudsoncollector.com -- forums/galleries, Ryan's Hudsons, Its a thing of beauty.
You'll find pics there with much more detail. Some day I'll master this contraption, but for now, I'd sooner fiddle with my Hudsons !!
