no longer Hudsonless
Last week I sold the 1929 Victoria to the person who restored it in 1978. When I took a test ride with him I could tell he is a "Hudson man" the way he shifted the gears. After a long week of being "Hudsonless" and waiting for the person who had first refusal decline on the car I wanted to buy, I now own a really nice Hudson.
Just for fun, everyone can guess what kind of Hudson I have bought.
Jetman, and Hal are excluded as they know which car I now have.

I would say that anyone that had owned a beautiful classic car like a
'29' Hudson would tend to gravitate toward something with elegant styling, impeccable workmanship, tasteful appointments, something with a lot of WOW factor. My guess would be one of those cute little Hudson Metropolitan convertibles.0 -

Without some kind of hint, who knows? Since you have had a twenty-nine I would say you wouldn't go step down. You would stay with the older cars but something that maybe the twenty-nine didn't have. Maybe just a tad bit more modern, I say an early thirties sedan. Probably a 32' or 33'.:)0

Wow I like the Metro boat tail idea.
Acturally I did consider a Essex boat tail, but it was a project bigger than I wanted.
After owning a "52 Hornet sedan for 21 years , its not a stepdown that I chose

Sorry its not that one , but like wow I like it.
Tonite I just talked to the daughter of the 2nd owner of the car and found all about it, including the selling dealer and orginal owner, ect.0 -
I'm guessing a 37 something but just because I love the front end on the 37. That grill is pure art deco.

In my garage is a 1937 Hudson Eight Custom Touring Sedan, model 77. It is dark blue and has been restored.
This car was sold new at Harold "Hap" Hathaway Hudson on the corner of Mohawk&Ballstone in Scotia New York.
About 1939 it was traded in on another new Hudson.
The next owner , Chris Herbeck was a Hudson Man, he had owned an Essex , and traded a 31 alpine blue Hudson Eight for the 37. Chris walked to work and only used the car on weekends. He always took excellant car of the car.
The son in law of Chris , Del Crawford took care of the car for the next 40 years. In the very early 1960s , this car was driven to the very first Hudson Meet held in the midwest in Chicago. Several members have said this is the car that got them into the Hudson Club.
In 1971, I drove this car and learned how to use the vacumne clutch and elelctric hand. In the last week everything came into place for me to own this car.
I feel very fortunate to have this '37 Hudson Eight.0 -

Too cool.! An for those of us that haven't been in the Hudson Club since the early '60's, might we see a photo or two of the Grand Ol Eight? Seriously, I've always loved the '37's . . . tossup between the '36 and '37 that was the best looking of the '30's models.0 -

That is a beautiful car. If I had the money to buy any car I wanted it would be a 37 Hudson, that being said my second choice is a 49 Commodore. The 37 is purely and asthetic thing, what a beautiful job they did in bringing the grill over the hood and blending the whole car into flowing lines. I don't know if it ever happened but I could picture that front end on a Hudson pickup, that would be one fine looking pickup truck.

That is really great Sheldon. Glad you ended up with it. I have a lot of memories of that car also. That car is the one that made the long wheelbase eights my favorites.
